Sedona is at roughly 4,000 feet or 1,200 meters. As we drove down the mountain for Phoenix, the temperature was a pleasant 70 degrees (20c). Descending to Phoenix on the winding road and as the sun rose it became hotter. The temperature hit about 90 degrees (32c).
After a late breakfast seeing Kimberly our daughter, we pushed on across the desert towards California. Slowly as we passed through the sun scorched desert the heat made a notable rise. By the time we reached Indian Wells at 5pm, the temperature had soared to 113 degrees(45c). Tomorrow the high is expected to be 118 degrees (47c).
Stepping outside our conditioned car the hot air hit is like a furnace. We felt like frogs in a slowly boiling pot of water and made a quick dash to the hotel lobby. Here you survive by dashing from air conditioning to air conditioning.
