Brenda Beck and Tom Wohlmut wanted to combine their skills and interests and realized that Tom’s current films are all about getting to the heart or root of a story. And Brenda’s interests are all about the roots of indigenous cultures and teachings.
As they walked around their Santa Fe neighborhood talking about the name, they realized that most of the native plants in New Mexico bloom purple. So Purple Root Productions was born from their desire to get at the root of stories and the color refers to the beautiful purple plants they see outside their door.
