After seeing the Navajos we decided to stopover in Sedona. Sedona is an Arizona desert town near Flagstaff that’s surrounded by red-rock buttes, steep canyon walls and pine forests.
Uptown Sedona is dense with New Age shops, spas and art galleries. It is this collision between the natural world and the commercial one that is jarring. The labor day weekend saw thousands of cars bumper to bumper on the highway like little ants under the magnificent surrounding buttes.
We stayed in a lovely hotel overlooking the spectacular scenery and high above the crowds for some much deserved R&R.
