Byron Bay

This weekend we’ve driven down to Brunswick Head and Byron Bay. These small beach towns are just south of Brisbane across the state border into New South Wales. Our friends Karessa Symons and Dale Hall invited us to spend the weekend. Karessa’s risk management company is in charge of compliance for the internationally-known Bryon Bay BluesFest. (Think Coachella of Australia.) Karessa gave us a tour of the huge venue, which looks like Woodstock on steroids.

Yesterday we took advantage of the proximity to Byron Bay to see that famous beach town, home to movie stars. The highlight was a tour of the Cape Byron Light House that stands on the easternmost point of Australia. It was a lovely drive and the tour of the light house afforded us 360 degree views of the area. Afterwards we had lunch at Beach Byron restaurant overlooking the waves.

Last night we enjoyed a delicious Italian dinner with our friends at Lello’s,which is run by Italians from Torino. Thank you Dale and Karessa for hosting a fab weekend for us!
