Q1 does not stand for first quarter. Rather it is the name of a lovely hotel on the Gold Coast. In fact it is the tallest building along a coastline reminiscent of Miami, Florida. At 77 stories it is slightly taller than the Eiffel Tower in Paris. We are staying here.
The train ride from Brisbane was very easy and the last leg was on a Light Rail arriving at Surfers Paradise Beach. We knew we were getting near there when several young men and women got on with surf boards in hand. Thoughtfully the train provided surf board holding fixtures by the doors.

Once we checked into the Q1 hotel we spent the day at the pool and had lunch at Longboard. Later on, we took the high speed elevator to the 77th floor for drinks and nachos. We enjoyed the terrific view of the area as the sun dropped and the building shadows spread eastward over the beach.
