The sound of splat, splat and splat can be heard on the ocean outside our balcony. Is it a bird? Is it a plane. Is it . . . sting rays? Yes!!!
Here in the Sea of Cortez the sting rays have a habit of flying themselves several feet out of the water only to splat back down. The sound is similar to a baseball caught in a catcher mitt or spectacular belly flop. Whether for hunting or just being playful, these creatures are very entertaining to watch.
