Art in Rome

Oct 22, 2021

The Museo Borguese is one of the must stops in Rome. It is the former palace of the Cardinal Borguese who later became a Pope. In the museum are housed some spectacular paintings and sculpture from Caravaggio to Bernini. Looking at the beautiful marble life size statues takes your breath away with the artfulness and technical virtuosity of Bernini.

In the evening we went to the Teatro Dell’Opera di Roma. Having our temperature taken and showing or vaccine pass we were admitted to see the Opera by Verdi entitled Giovanna D’Arco (Joan of Arc). Everyone wore masks during the most sumptuous performance and artistic production we have seen and heard in a long time. The other wonderful thing, the supertitles were both in English and Italian. We were able to follow along and as a bonus hear how the Italian words were being sung. Today was a beautiful day for art.
