This morning we docked in Venice in the early morning and saw the sunrise over the city. A magical moment suspended in time and space. This was the port we originally planned to disembark but we decided to continue our journey on Windsurf for another week until we reach Rome.
We took a boat tour to the Morano island and saw glass blowers in action. It’s a marvelous island to see the blending of a hand craft and the science of melting glass and shaping it into beautiful forms. These master craftsmen have passed along the knowledge for generations and it takes 4 years of apprenticeship to get started and that’s only if the master glass blower likes you!
Afterwards we went by boat to Burano where we saw a lace worker at work. The town is a beautiful blend of colorful houses. In olden days the fisherman painted their houses bright colors so they could identify their homes when they returned from a late night of drinking!
