This is our last day on the ship. For nearly a month we have lived on this lovely vessel, the Queen Elizabeth. Most of the journey we have been surrounded by water. Our ship is tiny and insignificant by comparison, bobbing and weaving through the waves.
I think how much our little ship world reflects the wider world. Surrounding our earth is the cosmos like the sea that envelopes our ship. We have limited resources on board. How many pounds of butter do we have, jars of strawberry preserves and how much toilet paper? When all the resources are expended that’s the end of our survival on this vessel. Fortunately, earth can replenish it’s resources but the Queen Elizabeth cannot on its own. I have a much better appreciation of the need to preserve and cherish what we have on earth. If we run out of resources on the planet, the voyage will be over for good.
