An Australian Welcome

Oct 16

The sun rose over Melbourne and the golden light flooded our cabin #7078. It was a balmy morning and we anxiously awaited clearing customs. Brenda has a permanent visa but you never know there could always be some sort of snafu. But we sailed through the border force checkpoint and were off to see Melbourne.

In the city we enjoyed a cup of espresso and cappuccino, they are famous for their high quality coffees. We walked past parliament and down to the gardens. The conservatory was heavily laden with beautiful flowers of all types. Throughout the gardens on this glorious spring day, sat workers enjoying their lunch breaks. And just down the path was Captain Cooks parents’ house which was imported from England as a tribute to the Captain and his importance to Australia. As our Queeen Elizabeth ship pulled away from the dock, we felt as if we were warmly welcomed to Australia, our new home for the next few years.
