We took a drive to the coast with our friends Jeannie and Stephen. Of course a stop for fish n chips was on the agenda for lunch.
In England, the people have a love affair with this dish. In the old days we were told the fish was fried in beef oil that allegedly gave a fantastic taste. Today they use vegetable oil. Smashed peas is the vegetable side dish that kinda reminds me of Hawaiian poi only a bit more flavorful. And Jeannie showed me the delicacy of buttering a piece of white bread and folding french fries in it. Yummm… kinda.
