The town of Penrith lies at the entrance of the Lake District. It was always a prosperous city with it’s own castle where King Edward I of England once lived.
The town history stretches back to the Roman age. Viking, Scot and Celtic people all trounced around these parts. Today it is still a busy hub of activity with lots of shops and pretty little streets lined with cafes and shops. We perambulated about and enjoyed discovering the lovely flowering gardens and the signs « By Order » that instructed us on how we should be!
