San Juan – Addendem

When we stayed in San Juan, our friend Olga introduced us to a fabulous restaurant called La Carreta (The Cart) in old town.
It is a delightful restaurant atop a plaza with beautiful views of the many colorful buildings nearby. If you’re lucky they will seat you at a table for two in the open shuttered windows. The reason I call attention to this place is because of their Eggs Benedict.

As many of you know I am a great fan of Eggs Benedict and have tried them all over the world. Many places will create their own variations by adding salmon, a special bread, unique greens or avocados. There is so much you can do with this tasty dish. At La Carreta, the chef has created the most original Eggs Benedict I have ever tasted. The sauce instead of being a simple Hollandaise, is actually a smooth variant created with Gruyère cheese. It is a brilliant combination. Oh my does it melt in your mouth. Kudos to the chef and if you’re ever in San Juan be sure to visit La Carreta and try their Eggs Benedict. And their coffee is fabulous too!
