St. Barth

Our next island is owned by France. When you step off the boat you feel as if you have entered a lovely seaport in the Mediterranean. But it is a very exclusive resort island too with famous people coming to visit during the winter months.

The day began with a snorkeling tour to see turtles and a coral farm. The farm grows small staghorn coral on special tv looking antennas. Apparently the coral on the sea floor grow 2cm per year while in the farm grow 5cm a year. This is a great boon for the restoration of the local coral beds.

In the afternoon we headed for town and had a lovely lunch at a local Peruvian restaurant with drinks of Pisco sours, Brenda’s preferred drink. In the evening we returned for a tapas dinner and listened to live music by two singers who we met in the local historic church. It just so happened the table we were given was recently frequented by Jennifer Lopez and Ben Aflexk. We felt like such stars this evening!
