On morning walks you sometimes encounter really interesting things happening in the city. This morning there was a 10k, 5k and 1k run for the benefit of the Queensland University of Technology. As I walked across the Goodwill Bridge, hundreds of runners were passing me by.
Across the bridge at the QUT campus, I encountered a French couple playing an accordian and tuba as runners dashed pass them. The music was clearly encouraging the runners and put a big smile on my face. Further up the hill I heard the QUT youth orchestra playing James Bond themes as the runners accelerated past them. Finally at the center of the campus the runners crossed the finish line, some collapsing in the grass.
Finishing up my own walk in the gardens I saw the Sunday market and paused to admire the new plantings of marigolds in the park. It was a lovely morning perambulation with plenty to see and hear. Never a dull moment in this beautiful city.
