Lone Pine Koala Preserve

Our friends Mike and Kellie are visiting from the US, and this day we took them to Lone Pine Koala Sanctuary. This is one of our favorite places in Brisbane where you can see dozens of Koalas nestled in branches sleeping or munching Eucalyptus leaves.

The park has many exhibits of kangaroos, wallabies, Tasmanian devils and more. The highlight is being able to hold a cuddly koala in your hands for a few minutes. It is a special experience you won’t ever forget.

The easiest and prettiest way to get to Lone Pine is to hop aboard an excursion boat for an hour and a half cruise up the meandering Brisbane River. The boat glides past beautiful homes and countryside while listening to the history of the area. It was a glorious fall day here and we all had a wonderful time. At the end of the day we were treated to another beautiful sunset over the city.
