Friends, Trains and Bocci Ball in Maleny

Maleny has become a second home to us in Australia. It is where a great majority of our close friends reside. They are so hospitable and have invited us to attend many local events. They have also generously hosted us overnight in their homes. This time Garry and Lisa Plant graciously let us stay in their very cute BnB overlooking a valley in Maleny.

On Friday this particular weekend, Lance and Carole hosted a mailbox gathering of the neighborhood. Ever since Covid-19 they have been hosting an outdoor Friday night gathering where everyone brings drinks and appetizers and socializes. It was great fun for us to partake as honorary neighbors. Then we zipped up to a Thai restaurant for a lovely dinner with Clive and Elizabeth.

Garry spent Saturday setting up his beautiful outdoor train set complete with bridges and a train station called Lance. The guys spent a lovely afternoon playing with the train set. I filmed it and you can watch the video here:

Finally, Lance and Carole hosted an outdoor feast at their beautiful Italian/French outdoor table and kitchen. After much imbibing and feasting, we played Bocci Ball on Lance’s Bocci Ball Court. The ladies won the tournament! As the rains began to fall we huddled under the canopy and then went to bed to the sound of the raindrops on the roof.
