Eat Street

About a 45 minute ferry ride from our apartment is a place called Eat Street. We found out about it from a cab driver who told us it was a great attraction and we had to go. Open on Friday to Sunday, this is an area in North Brisbane that has been set aside next to the Brisbane river in an old warehouse district. Consisting of fixed up shipping containers and old aircraft hangars, this is a beautifully entertaining spot featuring food and and live entertainment.

We decided to try it for ourselves last night and were very pleased we did. The entrance fee was only $5 ($3.50 USD) per person. Once inside we were greeted with colorful lights and imaginative food stalls with so many varieties of available ethnic foods. Do you care for chips on a stick or Langos? A beer was only $8 ($5.50 USD). Everywhere you looked there were families enjoying the warm night air listening to music or chatting with friends. Teenagers cruised the aisles in groups and older people sat nursing beers and talking. What a wonderful place for all ages and families to come togther in this home grown and organically developed entertainment venue. “Good on y’a mates” we said as we took the ferry home.
