About 30 minutes by public transportation south from Surfers Paradise is a small cove beach and rock outcropping called Burleigh Head. It is at the start of a 30 kilometer (19 mile) board walk that extends all the way up the coast. The boardwalk celebrates Queen Elizabeth’s 70th jubilee with commemorative stops along the way.
We really enjoyed our afternoon and evening watching the waves and swimmers from atop a restaurant/bar next to the rocky hillside. Ironically the beach here has way more surfers than the namesake further north. Next time we visit we will definitely explore the area more.
