Living in a foreign country provides challenges with regard to comparing how much things cost here verses at home in the US. For starters the exchange rate is favorable to Americans. One US dollar buys $1.30 Australian dollars. It is a 30% difference.
So in the photo above, $60 dollars Australian in groceries actually cost me only $41 in US money. Obviously it is a bit cheaper for us to live in Brisbane than Santa Fe.
