We were invited by our dear friends, Clive and Elizabeth Waring, to their home in Maleny, Queensland which is north-west of Brisbane. Without a car, the best mode of transportation was to take the Translink train to Landsborough where Clive picked us up. (The 90 minute train trip only costs $18 Australian dollars round trip, or about $12.60 US dollars.)
We enjoyed a lovely lunch with Clive and Elizabeth and their two house guests from Acapulco, Antonio Palazuelos and Anna Archdale. Also joining us were neighbors Lisa and Gary Plant, who we have known for many years. Lisa is American and grew up in the States. She and Brenda are good expat buddies.
Elizabeth prepared an exquisite lunch of quiche with home grown tomatos and vegetable salad. Desert was chocolate covered strawberries and dates. The drinks flowed freely, started off by Anna’s delicious tamarind margueritas, followed by lots of wine and beer. We had spirited conversations about our various cultures, travels, and even views on spirituality, plus lots and lots of laughs. It was a fun day! On the train ride back to the city, we flew down the tracks as the train lulled us into lovely naps.
