Roaring into Tasmania

It was a tumultuous sea crossing through a section of sea nicknamed the “Roaring Forties” – (referring to the notorious seas at this latitude). Our cabin was rocking and rolling all night long. At 2 am a drinking glass hopped the shelf and crashed to our bedroom floor.

Nonetheless, we landed in Burnie in time to take our scheduled tours. First stop, the House of Anvers chocolate factory established by a Belgian. We sampled some of the finest chocolates outside of Belgium!

Traveling by bus over the beautiful countryside we both felt like we were back in Scotland again. The land was lush green and it was quite cold and rainy. We were thankful not to have shipped our cold weather gear back home!

Other stops were 41 (degree) South Tasmania salmon farm, Ashgrove cheese and Spreyton Cider Company. We were happy to be back on terra ferma while enjoying the lovely scenery and gastronomic delights all around us.
