Feels Like Scotland

The day was predicted to be blustery and a cold 51 degrees. Melbourne was in the distance and Brenda and I just didn’t feel up to braving the elements to get there and walk about. So we just hunkered down on the ship and got some work done.

By 3:30 pm it was time to leave for our next port of call, Burnie Tasmania. However the winds were howling with gusts up to 50 knot bursts. The captain decided it was best to remain in port until the winds died down. The narrow channel is known to be treacherous. Unfortunately there was a by-product to his decision. The wind was blowing the ship away from the dock and required a tug boat to push us back to keep the bow lines from breaking off from the pier. Six hours later we finally departed with a beautiful rainbow over Melbourne as a backdrop.
