I recently did some historical research into the area we are staying in and discover a man by the name of Ray Cannon who was very influential. Ray was a gringo who loved fishing and discovered the magnificent fishing off the Baja coast in the 1960’s long before anyone knew about it. He wrote a book about the Sea of Cortez published by Sunset Magazine. As a result of his book North Americans flocked to Baja.
Back in the 60’s Baja had only two resorts, one in Cabo San Lucas and the other less than a mile from where we are staying called Rancho Buena Vista. This area of course is still less developed than Cabo but happily retains the old 60’s feeling which we love.
