Yesterday, we spent our final day in Italy taking a slow drive from Rome to the port town of Civitavecchi. This was the same port we arrived in on our Windsurf ship about a month ago. This time we were leaving by Grimaldi Ferry Lines directly to Barcelona where we will pick up on Saturday a Holland America cruise back to the states.
The ship provided us a modest cabin for the overnight trip and it was fun watching all the cars and mostly trucks navigate backing up into postion on the ferry truck deck. The ferry was mostly populated by truck drivers and a few couple passengers. The trip was easy and actually our lunch meal was really wonderful.
We arrived safely to the port of Barcelona in 20 hours and then navigated skillfully between other cruise ships. We got to our hotel in time to walk around the neighborhood and get our bearings. We are in the La Rambla area.
