Tanti Auguri – Part 2

After our morning wine tour and tastings, we came back to the Renello Villa and were treated to a fantastic olive oil class and tasting by the villa’s own patriarch. That evening, we celebrated Brenda’s birthday in our 1,000 year-old villa suite. The staff set up a beautiful table for the six of us and decorated the room with lovely white flowers and candles. Claudio was our personal waiter/server for the night.

Andrea, the chef, had prepared a buffet of local Tuscany appetizers which we enjoyed with a bottle of bubbly purchased by John and Wendy at the winery earlier that day. After an exchange of gifts we settled down to a starter of eggs with cheese sauce and truffles, then hand rolled noodles with cream sauce, a main course of rabbit with seasonal vegetables, and ended with a beautiful chocolate torte. Each course had delicious wine pairings, with local Vin Santo with dessert.

It was a blowout celebration and the birthday girl was very pleased and set to enjoy her next decade.
