Today we docked in the Italian port city of Monopoli. Apparently it was one of the last Roman towns that survived the fall of the Roman Empire, therefore Mono (last) Poli (city). But that is not why we came here.
We came to see the town of Alberobella. This is the famous agricultural town that has very unusual Trulli Houses constructed from stone and without mortar. Their trademark is the unique circular roofs made of stone. A very picturesque town that is a UNESCO World Heritage Site.
