Our visit and tour of Epidaurus was very educational and we learned it was a great healing site more than 3000 years ago. It was the predecessor of the spa. Sick people would go there for healing and various treatments. We learned the snake medical symbol comes from here when ancient Greeks used snake venom to heal certain illnesses.
But the real jewel of the place is the amphitheater which was obscured by a hillside for thousands of years before discovery. Today it remains in mint condition and the acoustics are amazing. Brenda even heard me propose to her while she was in the last row and I was on stage barely speaking loudly!
Then we returned to Nafplio and saw the city fortress build by the Venetians and then conquered by the Turks. A wonderful day in lovely Greece.
