Jewel of Fiji

Oct 9

68 years ago I came to Fiji on a cruise ship bound for America. Today I am back as a 71 year old. I don’t remember that much from 1956 but I do remember our day today!

We boarded a bus to a Fiji village about an hour away. They took us on a 45 minute long boat ride up the Anaconda River so named after the movie that was shot there. At the top of the river we stopped and hiked up to an impressive water fall.

On the way back we stopped in the village and enjoyed a Kava ceremony and Fijian dancing and music. Afterwards we were treated to an authentic meal and more singing. The Fijian people are a happy bunch and smile a lot. They always let out a big BULA (hello) when they meet you. BULA to my friends around the globe!
