Masks and Water

Oct 1

Last night we had a formal masked ball. Both of us got dressed up and wore our masks we bought at the San Francisco opera. It was fun getting dolled up. It’s something to look forward to and many guests took time to really put on the dog. It was quite the show and the dancing after dinner was loads of fun. I may finally be getting my waltz steps right while poor Brenda has to follow. Well there’s still plenty of time to practice!

Today we are sailing ever closer to the equator. While the zero meridian is a scientific man made line, I can look at the sea and experience the changes visually. For one thing as we are traveling south, the waves last night were pushed by the winds from the north. Then we entered the calm seas of the doldrums. Now this evening the waves are being pushed from the south. Human inventions don’t mark the changing environment, nature is the real deal.
