We are staying with our special friends, Jack and Jill Sardegna in Aptos, California. This day they decided to drive us down the coast past Monterey to Big Sur. The drive takes about an hour and a half past long beaches, vast farmland, rugged cliffs surrounded by the Pacific Ocean and beautiful tall redwoods.
Our destination is Nepenthe, a fantastic restaurant perched on a high bluff overlooking the rugged coastline and the ocean a thousand feet below. It was a quintessential California experience we all enjoyed over beer and their famous Ambrosia burger.
Jack and Jill have been such wonderful hosts to us on this leg of our journey. They are charming, gracious and generous host with which we can laugh together at the absurdities of life. Experiencing Nepenthe with them has felt so wonderful coming back to a place Brenda and I have lived for many years.
