St John Island is still in the United States right next to the famous St. Thomas Island where all the big cruise ships go. Our ship, the Sakara was able to nuzzle into the small harbor of St. John for an up close visit.
Early in the day we took an island tour to see the beautiful white sand and turquoise water beaches. These are some of the best and most dream perfect tropical waters. Driving up and down the narrow roads we eventually ended up seeing the Annaberg sugar plantation which stood overlooking the Caribbean.
At one time these islands were owned by the Danes. Today my Australian friends would feel right at home since this is the only place in America where they drive on the left side of the road!
