So I went to my local hardware store to buy some laundry detergent. Much to my surprise I saw several brands locked up behind bars or glass cases. In order to get my favorite brand I had to find a store employee to unlock the case. As he grabbed my prized brand I was about to put it into my basket. He said, « Oh no, you have to claim it at checkout, I can’t let you have it now ».
At checkout I inquired about what is it with locking up the detergent? The reply was simply the word « Thieves ». Wow, I thought how desperate of the stores to go to such lengths. And then I thought how desperate people must be to steal detergent to turn a buck.
