Around Australian cities you see lots of Ibis birds. They remind you of Egyptian paintings in the temples. In Brisbane they are more populous than pigeons and tend to be a bit cheeky. They will often swoop down on your outdoor cafe table after you leave to snatch leftovers. They also cross streets rather nonchalantly as if they had all the time in the world. Drivers take great care not to run them down and always allow them to cross the streets, particularly when they use the cross walk.
And to answer the riddle of why did the Ibis cross the road? To prove it wasn’t chicken of course!
