Our friends Annalisa and Roberto have decided to expand their outdoor living space. They chose to cover it with a Palapa structure very commonly used in Mexico. It consists of a 1,000 pound beam supported by three equally strong pillars. Cross beams are arranged and tied by hand with leather. The finishing touches are palm frons that are skillfully woven to create a waterproof roof. The project will only take a few days. Using locally sourced material and local manpower, the project cost under $4k. A win/win for everyone including nature that gets recycled.
