Tivoli is not just in Copenhagen

Today we took a drive outside the city of Rome to Tivoli, a city in the foothills about an hour away. There we went to see the Villa D’Este, a UNESCO World Heritage site of a villa built in the 16th century that has amazing gardens and water fountains. The waters come from a local river and there are no mechanical pumps driving the fountains. It is all 100% powered by nature. The beauty and splendid natural surroundings made our hearts glad and full of joy.

Afterwards, we stopped into a little restaurant and had a wonderful meal of tortellini and black pasta that was hand formed by the mama and cooked by the owner’s husband. It was funny because when the owner came over to take our order she said you will have this pasta! When we were about to ask for other suggestions, she again repeated the phrase very emphatically «You will have this pasta »! And so it came to pass and mama came out to be sure we enjoyed her hand made pasta.
