An Italian dinner

Oct 13, 2021

In the morning we had a lovely zoom call with our friends Clive and Elizabeth in Australia. They had wanted to personally wish Brenda a happy birthday. It was a lovely hour spent catching up on events down under and sharing our travel stories. But when you are traveling for an extended period you still have bills to pay and work to catch up on. So we spent the day balancing checkbooks and working and contacting vendors to keep our Diné film documentary on track.

After a day of work, we planned to have a nice Italian dinner in Sorrento. We walked into town on the only narrow road into Sorrento from our Belair hotel. Then we dropped into an outdoor cafe on the main plaza to have cocktails of a Lemon Drop and Harvey Wallbanger and watch the locals go by. With Italian cocktails you get a lovely selection of nibbles.

At Le Gracie restaurant we settled in to enjoy a wonderful meal at this family run place. I recall the words of my nephew Kyle’s partner Sarah. She talked about how Italian food for her is about simple pure and natural tastes and not about foamy dishes with tiny little portions at 30 Euros a plate! And that’s exactly what we enjoyed. A four course dinner with our own wonderful Chianti we purchased in Tuscany. Total bill for the evening was 79 Euros. Our stomachs were full and our spirits happy as we walked back home.
