On the second leg of our cruise out of Athens we stopped once again in Santorini. This time we elected to take a wine tour of the famous wines of the island, most notably Vin Santos. Here they grow their vines in an interesting basket shape hugging to the ground to help preserve the very rare moisture. It also helps shield the grapes from the drying effects of the winds.
We also revisited the small towns precariously holding on to the steep caldera cliffs. It’s pretty funny seeing the tourists in town dragging their bags across rough cobble stone streets to get to their hotel suites on the cliffs.
